Archive for scrapbooking hobby

I want to start a hobby of scrapbooking. Since I am new at this, I want to know what kind of supplies I will need. Also, if I just cut out pictures from magazines and paste them on paper, is that called scrapbooking? My last question is that, is there some kind of special paper used for scrapbooking?

I am not doing digital scrapbooking.
If I use construction paper, will it be okay?

- Theres a scrapbooking kit that comes with millions of things thats like $50
- Magazine are totally good for scrapbooking
-& yes there is special paper but you dont have to use it .
best of luck w/ your new hobby!

I would like to start a scrapbook, but I’m afraid of it getting expensive. I’m a teen and can’t afford to spend a lot on a hobby.

It doesn’t have to be expensive. The most expensive part will be the album/book itself, but even that can be fairly cheap if you get it at a discount store like Big Lots or Walmart. You don’t need to buy expensive borders, special papers, or decorations. Dollar stores have loads of stuff you can use. as well as fabric stores, art supply stores, sites like orientaltrading.com, and so on. I have two scrapbooks and I just use a lot of construction paper, magazine clippings, buttons, rhinestones, and things like that. It still looks really nice.

I want to start a hobby like scrapbooking, or flower pressing or whatever!

what do you do and any suggestions?

Before you choose a new hobby, you’ll want to think about a couple of things: how much time do you have to set aside; how much money do you have to spend; how much patience do you have? Are you willing to wait minutes, hours, or days for a finished project? Are you willing to sit down for 5 minutes at a time, or 5 hours at a time? Do you want to spend 5 dollars, or are you ok to spend 50 dollars?

Whatever hobby you choose to start with, if you live in a city that has some specialized craft stores, visiting some of those is a great way to see what the craft is like. Also, try starting with kits, or take a class or two! That way, if you need special tools, or a large array of supplies, you’ll have a better idea of what you need.

Also, do some online research. Websites like craftster are pretty young, but they offer insights onto a WIDE range of arts, crafts, and hobbies.

mine is scrapbooking because i get to keep all my memories ……..even though im not that creative its my time and the whole book is about me and my friends and family but it can look any way i want to fit my personality…….i’d like to hear about your hobby what is it?

Ooooh, I love to scrapbook also! Unfortunately since I practically live at school and also take piano lessons I don’t have much time for it. I guess piano would be my real hobby.

Let me know your age, and how you got started ! It would also be interisting to know where you are from . I live in Florida , and I have several crafts I enjoy . I do scrapbooking , floral arranging , plastic canvas needle point , I make Cigar box purses and gift baskets !
I’m 52 yrs. old , and my late Aunt Betty got me started crafting 30 years ago to keep me busy while my children were away for the summer to keep me from going crazy !

I am 26, and I crochet a lot; but I also make jewelry. The jewelry I make is under the ‘chainmaille’ or ‘maile’ category. I got into that when I went to the Michigan Renaissance Festival and saw a bracelet that I liked. My boyfriend at the time bought it for me, and after I got home I noticed it wasn’t of the best craftsmanship and decided I could do better. I did some research online for supplies and have been making and selling it for 6 years.

I live in Korea and will briefly be in Tokyo and Yokohama this month. I am looking for scrapbooking supplies such as decorated pages, stickers and die-cuts. This is not a known hobby in Seoul but I am hoping that Japan has caught on since I was there 10 years ago. I know about the international order sites. I am just looking to peruse in an actual store.

Yuzawaya (ユザワヤ)is one of the biggest Japanese department store, specialised in handicrafts , art supplies, fabrics, and so on. Today I’ve just visited Yuzawaya in Kichijoji which is the nearest "Yuzawaya" from the central area of Tokyo. The shop is eight-story building and is located near the Kichijoji JR train station (1or 2 min. from the south exit of the train station). I’ve confirmed that they sell scrap-booking supplies at the art supply department, 6th floor of the building.
On the 6th floor, stickers and die-cuts are sold in the scrap-booking section, and special papers and decorated pages for scrap-booking are sold in the paper section.

P.S Tokyu hands shops also sell some scrapbooking supplies, they have shops in Shinjuku, Shibuya, and etc ( I visited the shops, to buy some livingwares, stationaries, but can not assume whether they have many line items for scrapbooking and worth visiting for the purpose.)

I would like to go and buy one of these colorcutters, but I don’t know where to get one except for online. Are they sold at Hobby Lobby or Michaels or a craft supply like that?

For people who do not know what a ColorCutter(R) Cutter is I will explain. People who scrapbook and card make often need to cut paper and photos. A ColorCutter(R) Cutter combines a Cutter and a Marker so when you CUT you ALSO Decorate the EDGE. Artists, scrapbookers, Designers and Students and Teachers and etc. all are using and enjoying this new type of cutting tool.

The best place to buy ColorCutter(R) Branded Cutters is usually from Home Shopping Network (http://www.HSN.com) who discounts them in kits. When they are not sold out they are a great buy.

Now you can also contact Teaching Stores, Like Ace and Learning Express who will soon be selling a ColorCutter(R) Cutter under the Educational Insights Label. (EI is one of the world’s largest Educational Product Manufacturers). And they are selling a private label version of the product made by the same factory that makes the original ColorCutter(R) Cutter.

You will enjoy ColorCutter(R) Products and see they are made well because they are MADE IN THE USA! They use Acid-Free Ink and are being used by Designers and Artists all over the world.

To use simply follow the directions or CALL the manufacturer for Help. They are in Florida and they take all phone calls quickly and offer tech support better than anyone else. Their phone number is 954-587-6777. They are open from 9:00am to 5:00pm EST Monday through Friday.

I am looking into buying a camera this weekend and I want atleast a 10 MP. I was looking at the Kodak but I heard I am better off with a canon or Kikon. I am looking to pay $$$ 90.00 – 120.00 $$$
Im not looking for anything grand cause it is for my scrapbooking hobby. Pics of family and friends on weekends and stuff.

They are very decent compact cameras, don’t feel constricted to Canon or Nikon though, there are other manufacturers with great cameras out there (some of the NIkon range use Sony sensor and processing chips). If you are looking for a compact for indoor use go for one that has a physically large lens.
