So if you know of any places here that have a few classes or even a website with some would be awesome! Please we so need to get out!

Here is a search engine specialised in arts. I filled in craft info and education for you:

Hope that helps

i want to start some scrapbooks since i have a 1 year old now and am start my family. plus i slao recently lost my father and i want to put together a scrapbook of his life to show my children when they grow up since they’ll never really remember or know their grandfather. i know target, wal-mart have scrapbooking materials. but since this is going to be a huge project for me i want to know what store to go to for the best selection of supplies. any suggestions ? (i live in fort collins, CO)

I live in South Carolina and we have very few scrapbooking stores, so we have to use the Walmart, Michaels, AC Moore, but each store here locally carries a different selection – it depends on the buyer, I guess, and the way the merchandise sells. I have discovered a lot of places on-line like ClubScrap.com, Personal Shopper and Storytellers for Kits of paper, fibers, embellishments & rubber stamps, etc, and then there is also Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, etc.

Here’s a link to my to my web site where I list my Favorite scrapbooking Sites that are on-line, all of which I have used for years.

There are so many products out there, just try to concentrate on getting the photos and possibly some photo mattes to match the photos and tie them to the background paper colors. I read recently that in 2008, 27,000 new scrapbook products were released and that just boggles my mind. I have scraping for years and don’t know what I’d do if I was just getting into the products.

I would check out the phone book for any local stores where you can get some good hands-on assistance for starters and maybe check out some of the finished layouts. And, many of the kit products out there have some nice coordinated page layouts that they often show on the outside of the packages.

Club Scrap at

http://www.clubscrap.com/pgdrv2.cfm?c=alsb/alsb_main

has Assembly Line Scrapbook Layouts (ALSB) that they supply with each monthly kit to help you create artistic and balanced coordinated layouts using their kit supplies, and if you purchase the kit- the assembly line instructions come free.

So very sorry to hear about your father. I did a scrapbook about mine and it was very helpful to me emotionally and spiritually and I think you have a great idea there. Lynne

I have been doing traditional scrapbooking for 9 years. I now want to start digital scrapbooking. The trouble is I have no clue on how to procede. I am also fairly cyber challenged. I do not just need a book for dummies but one for complete idiots. I have a photoshop CS2 program that I am just learning. I also have Corel Paint Shop Pro XI. Can anyone recomend a few books that will take me through each and every little step?

There are tons of good message boards out there that will help you. Scrapgirls is a very good one that comes to mind. They also have online tutorials for some of the software. Check them out! www.scrapgirls.com

I know how to assemble them and order the product. I am just not sure how to get business. Like, how do I set up a nice website, and how do I advertise it to get business? How do I show up at the top when someone types in scrapbook Page Kits.

You really should develop some form of a business plan to start.

E-commerce packages are widely available depending on needs and budget. First, you will need a domain name that is not already in use – try Network Solutions. From there, you will also need a web hosting company to host your website — I recommend 1and1.com since they have a wide variety of tools at your disposal that are user friendly to a beginner.

Also, if you plan to build the site yourself you will need basic knowledge of HTML/CSS. If you don’t plan to build it yourself then a pre-packaged site such as Volusion or Homestead will be helpful to you.

You have to build the foundation before you even begin to think about how to market it correctly. Your business plan should help you address this — as you will need to decide your target market and how best to reach them through various media.

Showing up at the ‘top of the page’ refers to SEO — Search Engine Optimization. There are two ways to approach this: organic and paid search. Organic Search is based on the content and relevance of your site as it pertains to search keywords. This is a fueled by search engine methodologies. On the second hand business pay for keywords or search terms. The budget you set for these terms will affect your page ranking for a specific search. When users click on your ad you pay based upon your top bid for that keyword.

They cut open the belly to release a lot of water throughtout the home and now are repiring it by putting in new insulation and screwing a piece of scrap paneling to the boards. Under the paneling is exposed insulation.
I am not paying a professional. The maintenace men in the park are fixing it at no charge

While the paneling would be strong enough to hold just insulation… it is not a vapor barrier! A mobile home NEEDS that vapor barrier to prevent moisture from entering the home from underneath.

I have made repairs like this myself, MANY times… there is NO REASON why it should not be done properly.

Whatever caused the leak in the first place should be repaired.
All of that wet insulation should be replaced (as stated).
The underbelly should be resealed wherever it was cut open, replaced if necessary. Underbelly plastic can be purchased at any mobile home supply company. Let me re-emphasize, it needs to be SEALED.

Whenever I have had to cut into the underbelly, I have always stitched the flaps of underbelly back together with a HIGH quality duct tape, and then used contact adhesive (applied to the new patch, and the underbelly seam) to glue the new piece over the cut. Never rely on just duct tape, and make sure that the glue has flashed off before attaching the new piece over the seam. The duct tape helps hold the seam together, while the glue is applied to both pieces. I have seen repairs where a service tech used only duct tape, and in 6 months, it was down. Your repairmen will tell you that the scrap paneling will hold better than any duct tape… and it will… but it will not seal out the moisture that naturally comes up from under the home. You should have a properly sealed patch over the hole or seam cut into the underbelly.

I will go one step farther… if you do not have a vapor barrier on the ground, you should. Plastic sheeting (6mil) is fine for this. Black plastic will help stop plant growth under it (blocks any sunlight that might enter the space), and it too needs to be glued at the seams, where it will be overlapped.

The repairmen will groan or complain when you tell them this, because it is more work, and if not done properly, can be messy. If the home belongs to the park, you may not want to argue with them about it, because it will be their own property that is damaged in the long run… if this is YOUR home, however, then you should insist on it being repaired properly.

Good Luck

I discovered this type of scrapbook at a craft fair last fall & figured out how to make them. My daughter asked me to send her the instructions.

It’s lonely being an atheist scrapbooker and I’m always looking for others who enjoy the scrapbooking hobby but aren’t Christian or some other form of believer. If you’re an atheist scrapbooking, speak up now!
It matters a little because every time I go to a crop or some other social occasion to scrap, I have to listen to all the other women talk about their religious beliefs and I’m the outcast. I’d love to know if I’m the only non-believer who scrapbooks or if other face the same ostracization that I face. It’s a serious thing.

Why does it matter what religion you are as long as you enjoy scrapbooking?

Any tips on scrapbooking old loves? I married now and don’t want to emphasize the "love" I had with the ex-boys. Both for my husband and kids. However, they were a part of my life and I would like to keep that memory. Any tips or ideas on how best to go about this?

Years ago I saw someone ask the same question and someone gave a really cool answer. You know how they say you have to kiss a lot of frogs to get your prince, they told the person to make a layout or two about the "frogs" or the ones that led you to your prince. It may not be the ideal way you want to remember them, but at least it spares the feelings of your husband.

You can also do one page of them and make it like your path to marriage, or like a what you learned from them, etc. This way it has more of a focus other than being a past love. It’s a touchy situation, but it’s a part of life that everyone goes through.

Good luck and I hope these ideas help!
